Cameroonian civil society figure Alice Nkom has announced a humanitarian initiative launched at the request of Issa Tchiroma Bakary, president of the FSNC. This mission aims to provide support to political prisoners and the most deprived populations, transcending political affiliations.
In a public statement, Ms. Nkom stressed that this action is not limited to a simple handout, but embodies an active fraternity, uniting Cameroonians by a common destiny. She stressed the importance of not looking away from suffering and oppression, calling for an awakening of consciences and concrete solidarity.
The initiative will focus on two main areas: support for political prisoners and prisoners of conscience, considered as "sentinels of freedom", and assistance to the most deprived, especially during this period of Lent and Ramadan. Concrete actions, such as the distribution of basic necessities, are planned to bring immediate comfort to those in need.
Ms. Alice Nkom called for unity and generosity from all, beyond political, ethnic or religious divides. She has set up trusted channels to deliver aid transparently and efficiently, both in Cameroon and within the diaspora. The lawyer insisted that the honor of a nation is measured by the way it treats its most vulnerable citizens.
This initiative comes in a tense political and social context in Cameroon, marked by post-election disputes and persistent economic challenges. Alice Nkom's call for solidarity and humanity resonates as a message of hope and unity, inviting everyone to contribute to a better future for the country. Issa Tchiroma Bakary, former minister and influential political figure, had already appointed Alice Nkom as his spokesperson in November 2025.
