Douala, Cameroon – A multisectoral gathering focused on the crucial role of women in Africa's economic development took place on February 26 and 27, 2026. This event marks the fourth edition of the Stand Up For African Women Entrepreneurs (SUFAWE) program, an initiative of the Club Afrique Développement.
The main objective of SUFAWE is to catalyze the development of the African continent by highlighting the challenges and opportunities related to women's entrepreneurship. This edition aims to be a space for exchange and sharing of experiences, with the goal of identifying the key elements that promote personal fulfillment and societal progress, with women as central actors in this inclusive development.
The program included multisectoral business meetings and thematic discussions, particularly on strategies for women's success, with a special focus on success stories of fundraising by African women entrepreneurs. The central theme of this session, "Connect, Trade, Grow," was praised by the governor of the Littoral region as particularly relevant, highlighting the opportunity that Cameroon represents for private investment thanks to the incentive measures put in place by the government to improve the business climate.
The Director General of SCB Cameroon emphasized that this edition reflects a deep conviction: that of connecting talents and expertise, trading beyond borders, and growing in a sustainable and inclusive manner.
However, women entrepreneurs in Africa face many challenges, including limited access to finance, training and markets. Cultural and social barriers, such as traditional gender roles and discrimination, can also hinder their progress. Despite these obstacles, women's entrepreneurship in Africa shows a high rate, demonstrating women's determination to take their destiny into their own hands.
Initiatives like SUFAWE play an essential role in connecting businesswomen, facilitating trade, and promoting sustainable and inclusive economic growth on the African continent. These platforms make it possible to share experiences, identify solutions, and create support networks for African entrepreneurs.
The Club Afrique Développement, initiator of SUFAWE, positions itself as a catalyst for trade in Africa and a platform for connecting investors and local leaders. Its multisectoral missions aim to facilitate regional integration and promote intra-African trade.
