The Confederation of African Football's (CAF) decision to withdraw Senegal's title from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) continues to spark strong reactions. Among these, the statement by Idrissa Gueye, the Senegalese midfielder, stands out for its call for dignity and restraint.

"Titles, trophies, medals… all of that is fleeting," he wrote. "What truly matters is that every supporter can return home and be with their family. The Senegalese people have shown who they are: dignified in victory, dignified in adversity. That is Teranga". CAF justified its decision based on Articles 82 and 84 of the competition regulations, following the brief exit of Senegalese players to protest a refereeing decision during the final against Morocco. CAF declared Senegal to have forfeited the match, awarding a 3-0 victory to Morocco. This decision has provoked outrage in Senegal, with some seeing it as an injustice. The Senegalese Football Federation has announced its intention to challenge this decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
